Template and fabrication training module
The FabEasy examples that follow include a Bill of Material showing fitting item numbers, material identification abbreviations, material deductable columns, conversion of fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
Isometric piping drawings are usually broken down into spools to simplify the process by the pipe fabricator in calculating pipe cut lengths. Pipe fittings are manufactured to a regulated tabled standard relative to the diameter of pipe.
Using all of the above information, FabEasy uses the following presentation showing how to calculate the cut length of pipe when reading from an isometric piping drawing.
Samples of standard manufactured pipe fittings showing the type, the dimensions, the pressure rating and angles | Samples of piping standards and abbreviations used on isometric piping drawings and bill of materials |
Sample table of manufactured piping elbows showing nominal pipe size and fitting dimension | FabEasy depiction of typical isometric piping drawing broken-down into piping spools |
Typical FabEasy bill of materials showing list of material for a spool and how to calculate the pipe cut length |
